Students will learn to assess online data about soil types, historic drainage, and topography, and classify soil types based on drainage capacity. They’ll understand water movement in soils and identify soil characteristics in the field for drainage classification. Recognizing common land drainage issues and knowing techniques for remediation will be emphasized. They’ll also gain skills in surveying land, recommending drainage layouts, specifying appropriate drainage systems, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Examination – Theory 50% Assignment 50%

In-person

Successful participants will receive a level 6 component certificate in Agricultural Land Drainage.
